Claudio Echeverri could be transferred to Manchester City in 2025 and play on loan at River Plate until negotiations between the two sides are fully concluded. The 17-year-old was being targeted by Spanish giants Barcelona but his future seems to lie in England.
"My agent spoke to the president, many things were discussed. It was said that he didn't take the calls, but they were always in contact. I'm not going to renew, but I'm going to stay here for another six months or a year to enjoy it. Then we'll see," Echeverri told 'ESPN'.
As a result, Pep Guardiola's side have contacted the midfielder's inner circle to finalise a deal for his transfer. The Sky Blues want to sign him but loan him to the Argentinian side for one more campaign so that he can play in the next edition of the Copa Libertadores.
His transfer could cost between 20 and 25 million euros, which City are willing to pay for his services. River would keep 85% of his registration and the remaining 15% would go to Deportivo Lujan Resistencia, where Echeverri's career began.
Something similar happened in 2022 with Julian Alvarez and Gabriel Jesus, who spent six months on loan at Palmeiras before leaving.
