"Barca's squad is being improved: Trincao, Pedri..."
In an interview on 'RAC1' programme 'El món', Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke about the latest news at Barcelona. As well as the VAR and the I3 Ventures controversy, the Barca president was asked about the club's plans for new signings.
His response to the question on Lautaro Martinez was a disappointing one from a Barca fan's perspective. "It's better we talk about signings when the season is over. At this moment in time we are focussing on ending the season well in La Liga and the Champions League. It will be very difficult for there to be important signings. It's unlikely due to the clubs' financial situation. They have to adapt to the new times."
Bartomeu admitted that Arthur's departure to Juventus was partly due to financial reasons. "The Pjanic-Arthur swap' was firstly for sporting and then for financial reasons. The sporting director's team had been looking to sign Pjanic for a while. Arthur will stay with us until the Champions League is over."
The president was also asked on the squad being imrpoved and he said that "the squad is already being freshened up. A mix of youth and experience can give us rewards. We've already signed Trincao and Pedri who are triumphing at their clubs."
