The 4-0 loss at Anfield has meant a turning point in Barcelona's planning for next season.
Such a debacle usual marks a before and after in big teams and it seems like at Barca it will be no different. Not even winning the league and cup will prevent it.
The club are now working against the clock to try and get everything sorted before the start of the summer and the transfer market.
According to 'Marca', Barcelona are aware that there has to be a lot of changes in the coming months, but except a few minor changes here and there, the roadmap seems quite clear.
Out of the current sqaud, there are only a handful of footballers which could be considered untouchable with regards to next season. They are: Messi, Pique, Ter Stegen, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez.
It is true that they have been looking for a substitute for the Uruguayan striker for a while now, but even if a forward arrives in summer, Suarez's continuity seems certain.
Barcelona are clear on the type of players they are looking for to join the squad. They want youngsters with talent, a bright future and hunger. This was plain to see when the Catalan giants signed Frenkie de Jong and Todibo in the winter.
The Dutchman is reliable since he has shown his quality in this season's Champions League helping Ajax to almost reach the final.
His compatriot De Ligt could be the next one on the list and at just 19, he seems to have the experience of a 30 year-old central defender. He is very good and dependable at the back.
Another of the names which has been mentioned a lot in recent hours is Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman seems to be very close to Barcelona and it looks like this time he could end up opting for Barcelona.
We do not need to say much about a Griezmann who lifted the World Cup just under a year ago and who is considered by everyone at 28, to be one of the best footballers in the world.
The club could also sign a left-back with a promising future and a midfielder to strengthen that department.
Of course, as a result of these new signings, many players will leave the club and there are many who could well be on the way out.
The player who has been singled out the most is Coutinho. The Brazilian seems to be in a fight with Dembele to see who will leave the club, but it looks like the Frenchman will win the right to stay.
His performances have not been good enough and the Catalans could be willing too let him go if a good offer comes along.
Other players which could depart are Umtiti and Rakitic. Both wanted to continue, but Barca could sit down and negotiate, since both players are sought after by big clubs.
Then, for one reason or another, footballers like Cillessen, Boateng, Vermaelen and Murillo seem to not have long left at the club.
And the thing is there are few indispensible footballers ahead of a summer which could see mass changes in personnel. Ernesto Valverde's future as manager is also uncertain.
