Barcelona need to spend less money. The new president has made this not only his task, but his responsibility in order to recover the delicate economic situation that the club find themselves in.
At the same time, this change of management in Barcelona could influence a few signings that were on track to sign for the team, as is the case with Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay, who finish their contracts on the 30th June at Man City and Lyon respectively.
'RAC1' has reported that Barcelona have reformulated a few offers that had been given to these two players regarding the contracts they would have next season at the Camp Nou.
The new president believes that the club cannot afford to give the salaries of the magnitude that were initially offered when Bartomeu was in charge, and as such these offers have now been reduced. The ball is now in the court of both players.
The Catalan giants were on the right track to get hold of both Garcia and Depay, however this shift in approach could change the opinion of either of the two footballers, who could change their destination in the search of a better salary.
