Former Barcelona player Carles Puyol, who visited Barcelona's training session on Wednesday, led by Xavi Hernandez, is convinced that the coach "will know how to give confidence to his players, who are the ones who have to turn the situation around".
In a statement released by the club, Puyol said that "it's always good" to meet up with friends and recalled that he had experienced "many things" with Xavi.
"I think Xavi looks good, I think he knows exactly where he is, a club like Barca is very demanding. We are going through a difficult time at the moment, but I'm sure he will manage it and know how to give confidence to the players, who are the ones who have to turn the situation around," he said.
For all these reasons, and with the experience he has, Puyol reminds us that, in football, an assessment always has to be made at the end of the season.
"We know the club, when you lose two games or there are two games in which you don't play well, there is a lot of criticism. The demands are maximum on the team and on Xavi. We've had some difficult moments with injuries and that always makes it difficult for the team, but I'm very confident," he insisted.
