Barça dig their heels in with De Ligt

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', Barcelona will not pay more than the 75 million they payed Ajax for Frenkie de Jong for his friend Matthijs de Ligt. They are also not planning to offer him a salary of more than ten million euros a season.

Barcelona are growing tired of the games being played by Matthijs de Ligt and, in particular, his agent Mino Raiola. The centre-back is not short of suitors and seems to be in no rush to decide about his future. At the Camp Nou, they are now sure about what to do next.

Whilst PSG and Manchester United dream of signing Ajax's captain, the player himself is yet to decide on his future. "I have several options and I will look at which is best for me", said de Ligt recently, after enjoying a fruitful season at Ajax.

Those in Catalonia are worried that Raiola is having a bad influence on the player and that, at the end of the day, he may push him to choose money over sporting success. Consequently, Barcelona are staying firm in their offer to Ajax, according to 'Mundo Deportivo'.

The Catalan media suggests that the Spanish champions won't splash out more than the 75 million euros that they spent on bringing fellow Dutch international Frenkie de Jong over to La Liga, whilst they would also not be willing to offer de Ligt more than 10 million euros a season.

So, the ball is in the court of the defender who has the world at his feet despite not having turned twenty yet. It does seem that, however, his transfer saga may drag on for a while yet.
