Barça balance the books and can now focus on Neymar move

Thanks to UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, Barcelona needed to free up some funds before they could make a move to bring in any players this summer. Following the sales they have made in the past few days, they have now managed to avoid ending the financial year in deficit.

The club needed to bring in 70 million Euros before the end of June to avoid any problems, and had already received 23 from Borussia Dortmund making Paco Alcacer's loan move permanent and two from Eibar doing the same with Marc Cucurella.

Now, however, they have managed to sell André Gomes to Everton for 25 million Euros and Jasper Cillessen to Valencia for 35 million Euros, meaning their total income is 87.5 million Euros and they have avoided any punishment from UEFA.

Now, they will turn all their attentions to incomings at Camp Nou, trying to work out a deal to bring Neymar back whilst also weighing up a move for Antoine Griezmann after his release clause drops to 120 million Euros at the start of July. What they must bear in mind, however, is that they wouldn't be able to afford both of these superstars. 

The Spanish champions have now given up in their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt, who seems destined for a move to Juventus, but have moved to bring in Neto from Valencia as Ter Stegen's deputee.

Ernesto Valverde's side still need a left-back to help take the load off of an ageing Jordi Alba and provide competition for the starting role.

Meanwhile, Malcom, Philippe Coutinho, Rafinha, Denis Suárez, Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembélé could all leave, especially if they are included as part of a deal for a big-name signing. More specifically, Barça may need to include some players in a potential move to bring Neymar back to Catalonia and recreate their lethal attacking trident that won them the treble four years ago.
