The countdown has started. Junior Firpo is all but officially a Barcelona player. The defender is not part of the Betis squad for the pre-season friendly in Morocco, an absence which could mean the player is about to move to the Camp Nou.
An absence which coincides with the presence of the 22 year-old left back in Barcelona, which increases even more the rumours of his official signing for Barca this Sunday.
In addition, according to 'Mundo Deportivo', Junior is now having his medical at the Catalan giants just before they make his signing official for the next five seasons. The Euro Under-21 champion will move to Barca for 18 million euros plus seven million in variables.

In the last few hours, the Spanish press started to report Junior's arrival in Barcelona this Sunday stating that both clubs had already reached an agreement.
As the player gave his consent days back, there just need to be an agreement between the two sides. Barca apparently managed to lower Betis' asking price by 25 million euros.
Junior made the step up to the first team from the B team in the 2017-18 season when he ended playing the same number of games in each team: 14 matches, all of them as a starter. In addition, he managed to score two goals and give two assists which sealed his spot in the first team for the following season.
In the 2018-19 season, the Betis man made 29 appearances, 27 from the start and score three goals as well as assisting five times. These stats made Barcelona interested in buying him.
