Barca and Valencia trade investigated

The new investigation is yet another issue knocking on Barcelona's door. The newly-crowned La Liga champions are now facing an investigation into the trade they made with Valencia in 2019, that saw goalkeepers Jasper Cillessen and Neto Murara traded.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', the sale of Cillessen sent 35 million euros into the Catalan side's bank accounts and Valencia received 26 millions for Neto. The outlet reports that the deal aimed to distort "the balance sheet of both sports entities" in order to reduce their losses. 

It was included in the complaint that former Valencia vice-president Miguel Zorío lodged in January and now the Public Prosecutor's Office has now decided to open pre-trial investigation proceedings.

It is the newest investigation facing Barcelona this season. The Catalan club is also being investigated over the 'Negreira case', where the club payed 1.4 million euros to DASNIL 95, a company owned by Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.

The probe also comes after Barcelona were fined 15.7 million euros by the Spanish tax authorities for irregularities in the payments they made to players.
