In an excellent, free-flowing attacking move, Real Madrid demonstrated their supreme offensive quality, which ended in a fine solo strike by Gareth Bale.
After a series of one-two passing in midfield, Dani Ceballos set fellow youngster Alvaro Odriozola scampering down the right hand side.
By the time the full back reached the ball, he was parallel with the side of the box, and therefore opted to deliver a first time cross into the area.
The ball appeared to be miss-directed,as it evaded both Vazquez and Benzema who had ran into the middle of the box.
However, on second thought, the delivery was in fact perfect for Welshman Gareth Bale, who arrived in the box just as the ball was dropping towards the turf.
Bale proceeded to watch the ball fall from the sky, before emphatically swinging his left foot, and guiding a finish hard and low into the bottom of the net.
And so, after having suffered an initial scare, Madrid had exploited their superior quality to get themselves into the lead within ten minutes of kick off.
