Speaking to the press after the Club World Cup semi-final, Gareth Bale admitted that the players on the Madrid bench were making jokes about Al Jazira goalkeeper Ali Khaseif during the game. The Welshman then acknowledged that the keeper had a superb game, thwarting Real Madrid on a number of occasions.

The Real Madrid forward told the media after the clash in Abu Dhabi: "He's a great goalkeeper. We were kind of joking a bit about it on the bench, but then it started to get a bit more serious."

Bale came off the bench to score the winning goal for Los Blancos against Al Jazira, in a game in which Madrid had to work extremely hard to make the breakthrough.

"On another day we would have scored more goals," the Welshman said. "The most important thing for us is that we progressed to the final and we're concentrating on that."

Ali Khaseif pulled off a number of stunning saves during the Club World Cup clash and kept the European champions at bay for 50 minutes. Unfortunately for the UAE Pro-League champions, he then had to be replaced due to an injury which was bothering him for a large part of the game.
