Bailly's penalty which saw Ivory Coast crash out of the AFCON

If there is something the AFCON is showing, it is that the teams are very evenly matched. Most of the games are being decided by a single goal or in extra-time or penalties. 

The last 16 clash between Ivory Coast and Egypt ended goalless after 120 minutes and Egypt won 5-4 on penalties after scoring all of their spot kicks. Their opponents scored four of their five, but the one miss proved to be decisive. 

Eric Bailly of Man Utd was the player to miss. He took a very short run-up and then hit the ball to the goalkeeper's right. Despite being high, it lacked power and was neither in the corner or down the middle. Egypt keeper Mohamed Abou Gabal got his hand to it to tip it onto the crossbar. 

That was Ivory Coast's third penalty, but all the other penalties were scored. Mohamed Salah scored the winning kick and sent Egypt through to the quarter-finals.
