It has been revealed that Usain Bolt could still sign his first professional football contract with Central Coast Mariners, as the club are in talks with the country's football association with regards to funding.
The A-League side announced that it would be very unlikely that the trialist Bolt would sign a deal without a financial contribution from a third party.
However a spokesperson for the Football Federation Australia has said that the governing body have stepped in to try and help with the matter.
The 100m and 200m sprint World Champion has had many suitors since deciding to enter the professional world of football; trialling with Borussia Dortmund in Germany, Norway's Stromgodset, South Africa's Sundowns and now Mariners in Australia.
Bolt was also offered a contract with Maltese champions Valletta FC this month, but he later decided to reject the deal.
Bolt scored twice on his first start for Mariners, in a friendly match, but was omitted from the squad that faced Brisbane Roar in the season opener on Sunday.
