Aubameyang is in a very difficult situation at Arsenal. He lost the captaincy through ill-discipline and his manager Mikel Arteta cannot even guarantee that he will train with the club again. In this context, several clubs are following him closely. Barcelona and Sevilla are two of them.
British media outlet 'The Telegraph', however, says that the striker will not go to either of those two clubs because his salary is around 18 million pounds a year. According to the newspaper, it is an important stumbling block to him going to Barca or Sevilla as neither of the two Spanish clubs are willing to pay him so much.
To understand why his salary is so high, you just need to look at his career up to now. He moved to the Emirates Stadium from Borussia Dortmund as one of the most in form goalscorers in the entire Bundesliga. That led to him getting a good contract and his salary has increased whenever he has renewed his contract.
Even though Aubameyang has an Arsenal contract until June 2023, the board think it is right to sell him given his current situation at the club. If a sale is not completed in January, it will be bad both for the player and the club as Aubameyang would not play and the player's price will drop.
