There is no time for regrets. The defeat to Huesca is already in the past and Atlético are looking forward to the visit of Villarreal in just two days.
In a bid to avoid a stalemate like the one this week against Huesca, which came after they beat Granada 6-1 in their opening game, strikers like Diego Costa, Argentina's Angel Correa and youngster Victor Mollejo honed their skills in drills that involved players on the field to imitate their opponents' defence.
It was one of the drills during a session with all the players who were not starting against Huesca, with the exception of the Uruguayan José María Giménez, who is isolating at home after testing positive for COVID-19 last week, and the Croatian Sime Vrsaljko, who walked around the field to continue his recovery from injury.
There were players who were rested during the visit of the Aragon based side, such as captain Koke and Montenegrin centre-back Stefan Savic, but will probably return to the starting line-up for Saturday's match against Villarreal (16.00).
Atleti will host an opponent that usually causes them problems - they have beaten them five times out of 16 in the 'Simeone era', although Atletico have won the last two matches against Villarreal at the Wanda Metropolitana - and that off the back of a 4-0 win over Barcelona, with a 3-1 victory over Alaves.
