Atletico's Metropolitano to host 2027 Champions League final

Rafael Louzan dropped the hint on what was an open secret. The race against the Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan went right down to the wire but in the end, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano has come on top. UEFA are set to announce Atletico Madrid's home ground as the host for the 2027 Champions League final.
"This year, Spain has the Europa League final in San Mames (Athletic Bilbao's home stadium). We are guaranteed to also have the 2027 Champions League final in Atletico's Metropolitano. And why not, ask to host one of the upcoming finals in Sevilla's La Cartuja," the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president told the media.
The Metropolitano is no stranger to European finals. The stadium has already hosted the Champions League final in 2018/19, seeing Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool rising above Tottenham Hotspurs to lift the trophy for the first time after 14 years. Divock Origi and Mohamed Salah were on target to condemn Spurs to defeat.
The UEFA have already scheduled the 2027 Champions League final for June 5. After eight years, the home of 'Los Rojiblancos' will go back to return to the spotlight as the football community will tune in to find out which team will be crowned champions of Europe in two seasons' time.
