Atletico ponder bosman Fabregas move
The experienced midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and it believed he could be keen on a return to his homeland in the summer.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri recently insisted that he was hopeful of keeping both Fabregas and David Luiz at the club beyond the end of their current contracts, but it is thought Fabregas could be swayed by the offer of a return to Spain and more regular game time.
Fabregas has started just one of Chelsea's 15 Premier League games to date this season as he struggles to force his way above the likes of Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Meteo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Having spent five season with Chelsea since returning to the Premier League from Barcelona, it may now be time for the 110-cap Spain international to seek out a fresh challenge.
However, Atletico Madrid are by no means the only side keeping a close eye on the 31-year-old, with AC Milan also understood to hold a long-term interest in the classy playmaker.
Fabregas himself has ruled out a January move, though his contract status means a pre-contract could be agreed with an overseas side in the New Year.
