Atletico Madrid to bring their 'A-game' to Anfield: Giuliano Simeone

Atletico Madrid midfielder Giuliano Simeone expressed his confidence on Monday regarding a potential victory over Liverpool in their opening Champions League group stage match at Anfield on Wednesday. However, he acknowledged that they are facing "a formidable opponent" and that they will need to deploy their best strategies to achieve their desired outcome.

"We approach the match against Liverpool with great enthusiasm. Just playing in the Champions League is the pinnacle; it's a beautiful competition, and we need to secure those points. They are a tough rival. We'll need to bring our A-game to get what we want," the player stated during the launch of the new La Liga EA Sports sticker album.

For Giuliano, Atletico's objective is clear: to win. "Cholo (Diego Simeone) always tells us to bring our best, to play freely, to be ourselves to help the team, and to always trust the player next to you," the Argentinian added.

Regarding his teammates Julian Alvarez and Thiago Almada, he said: "Julian is a fantastic player, incredible, and he helps the whole team a lot with his goals, his effort, and sacrifice, and I hope he will be available on Wednesday. We saw Thiago in the Argentina national team, and he's amazing. Atletico will give him a lot. He has a lot of quality in midfield and gets the team playing. He's a good addition."

On last Saturday's 2-0 victory against Villarreal, their first of the season, he noted: "We don't feel any relief. Far from it. We wanted to play that match the same way we played the other three matches, where we were also looking for the win. We didn't get the results we wanted. But against Villarreal, we played well and got the result we wanted."
