William Saliba is in Atletico Madrid's plans. Or is still, as he has been on the Spanish club's agenda for some time now. This is what 'The Independent' reports on Saturday.
The centre-back, who can also play occasionally at right-back, belongs to Arsenal. Last season, the Frenchman spent time on loan at Olympique Marseille.
At 21, he was a very important player for Jorge Sampaoli, who used him in 52 official matches, all of them as a starter. In total, he accumulated 4,670 minutes and 'only' received seven yellow cards, a figure to be taken into account due to the large number of matches and his position.
However, Saliba made it clear that he was only thinking of returning to Arsenal, where he intends to succeed. And yet he has yet to make his first-team debut. He made six appearances for the Under-23s and two for the Under-21s before going out on loan to Nice and Marseille last term.
'Raised' in the youth ranks at Saint-Etienne, the Frenchman could be a good alternative for Cholo Simeone's defence. The 'Colchoneros' are short of options, especially on the right flank, although that position seems to be reserved for Nahuel Molina, who is very close to joining the Metropolitano.
