Atletico consider Cristiano's signing an impossibility

It was one of the shocks of the century. Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave Manchester United to play Champions League football in the upcoming season and Atletico Madrid emerged as one of his possible destinations to do just that. This comes after him spending years at Real Madrid representing 'Los Blancos' in Europe's most elite competition.
A real option for 'Los Rojiblancos', above all for Cholo Simeone who had given the Portuguese's incorporation the green light. It remains to be seen how he would be received by the Atleti fans however. With this being said, one of Ronaldo's main objectives is to continue improving his record as the highest goalscorer in the Champions League, something he would very much be able to do at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Football fiction aside, in recent hours, new information has emerged from 'Cadena SER'. According to the source, Atleti believe it is an impossibility that they will be able to sign Cristiano. This is because they will have to fund his transfer as well as his wages, two factors which are currently out of financial reach.
The cited source adds that his agents have indeed made contact with 'Los Rojiblancos' to gauge an idea of how the club view the possibility of signing him. At this moment in time, CR7 is not in the board's transfer plans. In order to facilitate his transfer they would have to let high value players go, such as the much loved Joao Felix.
However, dreamers can dream and if Ronaldo were to move to the Wanda, Atletico would have one of the best attacking lines on the continent. He would join the talents of Joao Felix, Morata, Griezmann, Matheus Cunha, Correa, Carrasco and Lemar.
