Atalanta boss Ivan Juric hospitalised with severe airway infection

The 49-year-old Croatian, recently appointed as Gian Piero Gasperini's successor, was due to lead his first training session with the Serie A side this week. However, his plans were put on hold due to a sudden illness.

According to an official statement from the club, Juric is receiving treatment at Bolognini Hospital in Seriate, under the care of Dr Davide Panciera.

Medical staff diagnosed a significant inflammation of the upper airways, which was further complicated by a bacterial infection of the epiglottis. The condition required hospitalisation and has been treated with intravenous antibiotics.

While the illness was described as serious, Atalanta have confirmed that the coach's condition is improving steadily, offering reassurance to fans and players alike. Juric's health remains the priority, and the Italians have not set a specific date for his return to training duties.
