Reports in England suggest the hunt for a new 'Gunners' boss is nearly over. The players have allegedly been told that Arteta has a 90 per cent chance of replacing the legendary Arsene Wenger.
The former Arsenal midfielder, who has been working with Pep Guardiola and Manchester City for the past two seasons, is Ivan Gazidis and Josh Kroenke's prefered candidate.
However other board members, including Raul Sanllehi, wanted a candidate with experience managing a big club.
It seems, though, that Arsenal will turn to someone who knows the club instead after Massimiliano Allegri, Luis Enrique and Joachim Low all dropped out of the running.
The aforementioned English newspaper claims that Arteta could be confirmed as the new head coach by the end of the week as the club are keep to have a replacement before the start of the World Cup.
