Barcelona forward Dembele has been the subject of interest from Premier League heavyweights Manchester United and Arsenal, though it looks as if the 'Gunners' have stepped up their chase of the 21-year-old by launching an enormous €100m bid.
According to Spanish sports journalist Kike Marin, Arsenal made the offer on Thursday. Negotiations between the two parties would need to be completed swiftly, as English clubs need to have their business completed by 5pm when the transfer window slams shut until January.
Although Dembele insisted "I'm staying at Barcelona, I'm ready to play in the Super Cup" when speaking on gaming network Twitch, if the winger did complete a move to Unai Emery's new-look Arsenal, he would see his first-team game time increase. Dembele was understood to be rather unsettled as Barcelona brought in Brazilian winger Malcom from French side Bordeaux who will challenge him and Philippe Coutinho for a place in Valverde's starting XI.
Since joining Barcelona for a mammoth €105m from Borussia Dortmund in August 2017, Dembele has only made 24 appearances for the 'Blaugrana', scoring 4 goals and assisting 9 more.
The 'Daily Mail' have previously reported that Barcelona are open to a sale of the player this summer. Arsenal appear the best fit for Dembele, with the Frenchman having a good relationship with 'Gunners' striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Dembele formed a lethal partnership with the Gabonese at Borussia Dortmund.
