Arsenal in talks with Thomas Partey over new deal

Although Arsenal are still in contention to win the Champions League this season, the Gunners are already starting to work on their squad for next season. 

One of the players who looked set for a summer transfer was Thomas Partey, whose contract was due to expire at the end of this season and who could look for a new destination as a free agent.

However, the 31-year-old midfielder's recent important role in Mikel Arteta's schemes has prompted the coach and board to start talks with his camp over a new contract. 

According to ‘The Athletic’, the former Atletico Madrid player who joined the Gunners in 2020 would be open to signing a two-year renewal or extending his commitment to the London club for a further year with an option to stay on for a further 12 months.

The Ghanaian midfielder has made 47 official appearances this season so far, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists as well as being key to the Gunners' defensive midfield work.
