The Croatian coach was relieved of his duties as Hammers boss on Monday morning following a meeting with co-owner David Sullivan, and former Sunderland and Manchester United manager David Moyes is set to replace him on a short-term deal.
Arbeloa spent one season under Bilic at West Ham, after joining from Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2016, but he made just four competitive appearances for the Hammers before hanging up his boots this summer.
The experienced defender provided a scathing comment on the situation on his Twitter as he wrote: "Better late than never."

The 34-year-old has worked with the likes of Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti during his decorated career, so it could be argued that he is well positioned to comment, and he clearly doesn't hold Bilic in very high regard.
The Spain international clearly did not enjoy his time under Bilic, and he confirmed after his retirement that his disappointing spell at the London Stadium convinced him to retire from football.
He told Spanish publication 'Marca': "Things this season did not come out as I had dreamed.
It has been complicated. It’s something that when it comes to my mind I try not to think much about. At a professional level it has not been an easy year and that also has a personal impact, of course."
