Refraining from stepping on the club crest is something fans usually appreciate. Ronald Araujo avoided the crest in Barcelona's La Liga game with Elche as he was trying to chase a ball which was going out of play.
The Uruguayan was chasing the ball when he ran too hard. Far from sticking his studs in the turf, he jumped to avoid landing on the crest at the Spotify Camp Nou. The crowd responded by chanting "Uruguayo" (Uruguayan).
The player himself explained why he did this after the match, in comments to 'DAZN'. He said that, as he is a Barcelona fan, he wanted to show respect. His way of explaining it made fans like it even more. They did not take long to praise him on social media. They are delighted with the commitment he always shows.
Araujo is part of the younger generation coming through at Barcelona to replace the likes of Gerard Pique and it is important he wins over the fans. Showing commitment in all of his performances is fundamental. He could become a club legend.
