Ansu Fati is now Spanish
Ansu Fati can now play for Spain after the government processed his passport application this Friday. He will also be able to play in the Under 17 World Cup in Brazil in October.
At the Spanish Federation's (RFEF) request, the Spanish sports court (CSD) talked to Justicia, Foreign and Culture ministers to try and speed up the paperwork so that Barca's young star could be given Spanish nationality.
The 16 year-old footbaler could have also represented Guinea Bissau or Portugal, but the RFEF have worked intensely throughout the last three months to naturalise the Barca youngster. A job which has been completed this Friday with the approval of the Spanish government.
Ansu Fati has become the revelation at the start of this season in which has shone both in Spain and in Europe smashing records along the way. Ernesto Valverde did not hesitate to give him the chance due to the large amount of injuries Barca had and the youngster responded with two goals and an assist in his first three La Liga games.
The only piece of bad news with this naturalisation is that Ansu Fati will miss a month of Barca action including 'El Clasico' due to the Under 17 World Cup. However, Barca are delighted for their young star to be in the Spain squad.
