Andrija Delibasic passes away aged 43 after battle with brain tumour

The football world has been left mourning the loss of Andrija Delibasic. The Montenegro international passed away on the morning of March 19 aged 43 after a two-year battle with brain cancer, diagnosed in March 2023.
The former striker was renowned for his tenure in Spanish football, playing for Real Mallorca (2003-04 and 2004-05), Real Sociedad (2007-08), Hercules (2008-09 and 2009-10) and Rayo Vallecano (2010-2011, 2011-12 and 2012-13).
He was crucial for Rayo and Hercules' respective promotions to La Liga from the second tier, although he also made pit-stops elsewhere in Europe. The likes of Partizan Belgrado, Benfica, Sporting Braga, AEK Athens, Beira Mar, Ratchaburi and Sutjeska are all part of his roster.
Delibasic's former clubs have all paid tribute to the late striker following the news of his passing, sending their condolences to his loved ones. Delibasic played 216 matches, scoring 48 goals throughout his honourable career in Spain's top leagues. May he rest in peace.
