Where would Cristiano Ronaldo go to if he left Juventus? That is the question many are asking themselves after information given by 'Il Corriere della Sera' on Wednesday and 'La Repubblica' this Thursday. The setback in the Champions League could well have been a key factor in his decision.
Both media outlets say that the Portuguese will not see out his contract in Turin. His current contract with the club expires in 2022, but 'La Repubblica' even says that next season will be Ronaldo's last in Italy.
Based on the rumours coming out of Italy where Cristiano now plays after he decided to look for a new challenge, it is interesting to review the possible destinations which could attract his attention.
Continue in the elite and try look in another league
Although he is 34, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be one of the highest valued footballers and would start for any team in the world. It would be enough just for the Portuguese to show interest in playing there for any club to fork out a load of money to sign him.
One of the teams which could try and sign him is PSG. The Parisian club was linked with the Portuguese star on various occasions when he was in Spain. If he went to the French giants, he would be practically assured of the Ligue 1 title and would fight to try and win the Champions League together with Neymar and Mbappe.
A step back
As well as staying in top level football, he could also consider other options although they do not seem so likely. Cristiano Ronaldo could try and take a step back and keep away from the media attention in Europe.
The two options which would be most likely are a possible move to the MLS or a return to Sporting Lisbon, the team which he became famous at and is the club he holds in his heart.
Golden retirement?
In this series of options, is the one of retiring. If 'La Repubblica's information were to be correct, he would leave Juve at 35 and a half years old. Age has not caught up with his yet, but other historic footballers like Zinedine Zidane retired when they were at the top of their game.
Nevertheless, this seems to be the most remote possibility since Cristiano has always assured that he sees himself playing until he is 40... or maybe even later.
