France beat the Netherlands 4-0 in a match in which Ronald Koeman's side were weak defensively. After the match, Steven Berghuis spoke of the lack of attacking presence and was asked about Xavi Simons, who he said "has to improve".

The French national team cruised to an easy 4-0 win over the Netherlands in their opening Euro qualifier. The team coached by Ronald Koeman was hardly visible on the pitch and showed defensive weakness in their opponents' attacks.

After the match, striker Steven Berghuis commented on the defeat and said of the poor attacking presence: "It was difficult, I don't think we had much of an attacking presence up front, unfortunately there was very little to see.

The novelty in the match was Xavi Simons' presence in the starting eleven, who played his second international match for the 'Oranje'. The PSV player again showed his tremendous work rate, but was not involved in the game.

"Xavi Simons? He simply has to improve, let me put it this way. Everyone knows that and on Saturday we will discuss in detail what happened," explained the Netherlands international.
