He has joined the Chilean outfit after a short spell at Tijuana, where he was in charge for just 16 matches, achieving a PPG record of 1.56.

His longest spell was at Bolivian side CS Emelec, where he was manager for 155 games and achieved great success, winning back-to-back league titles in 2012/13 and 2013/14.

He won the Chilean league during his only other spell in the country with CD Universidad Católica in 2018/19 and has three Bolivian League titles under his belt from his early days in management in 2005, 2009 and 2010.

But he has also managed both the Bolivian and Ecuadorian national teams.
