Two years with no penalties

At the conclusion of their 0-0 draw with Getafe on Sunday, Barcelona extended one of their more envious records in La Liga. It has now been two years since they have had a penalty given against them.

The last time the referee did blow up against the 'Blaugrana' for a foul in the box was February 14th, 2016, in a match against Celta Vigo. Jon Guidetti subsequently scored the resultant spot-kick.

Since then, Barcelona have played 76 times in the league, equal to two entire seasons. Elsewhere in La Liga there have been 224 penalties awarded against the other 19 teams, with the most penalised being Valencia and Celta Vigo who have been blown up 18 times each. Real Madrid have conceded eight penalties in this time while their cross town neighbours Atletico have faced seven.

It is no doubt a controversial record that Barcelona posess, and there are a number of instances that opposition fans will point to claiming that a spot-kick should have been given.
