It's not the first time it's happened this season, but this does not make it any less surprising. Thomas' father has once again insisted on the Atletico Madrid player's desire to play in the Premier League in the future.
Thomas already admitted it last July and a year later, just before the start of the African Cup, rumours are swirling around the player's future.
His father confirmed it on local radio 'Enigye FM' before the African Cup: "Personally, I told him to go ahead with his career. If they don't value him where he is now, they can value him elsewhere. And that's why he'd like to go to England if he has the chance to."
Thomas Partey, who has a 50 million euro exit clause, has attracted the interest of some of the world's best teams after gradually confirming himself as an important Atletico Madrid man.
A newcomer to Ghana's African Cup squad, the player is already working to go far with his country at the continental showpiece, which will also delay his return to the Spanish club.
