The more vastly populated nations are not guaranteed a spot in the World Cup, something which has been proven in qualification for Russia. China, India, Pakistan, the USA and Indonesia have all missed out. Because sometimes good things come in small packages.

Slovenia - South Korea and Japan 2002 - population: 1,99 million

Northern Ireland - Sweden 1958 - population: 1,4 million

Kuwait - Spain 1982 - population: 1,37 million

Trinidad and Tobago - Germany 2006 - population: 1,3 million

Paraguay - Uruguay 1930 - population: 850.000

Iceland - Russia 2018 - population: 332.000
