Giorgio Chiellini called Riqui Puig a "clown" after LA Galaxy beat Los Angeles FC in the US Open Cup. The Spaniard celebrated by showing his jersey to the stands and the Italian took it badly. But Riqui Puig believes it all stems from a goal he scored when he was a 'Cule' against Juventus in a pre-season friendly.

The US Open Cup had 2 clear headliners: Chiellini and Riqui Puig. Los Angeles Galaxy beat Los Angeles FC 2-0. One of the goals was scored by the Spaniard, but Chiellini, and his team's fans in general, did not like him showing his jersey as he celebrated his goal.

With the clash over, Chiellini, who saw him in the mixed zone attending to the media, called him a "clown" to which Riqui Puig paid no attention... at least in front of the cameras.

The LA Galaxy player retweeted on his account the explanation he gives for Chiellini's insult. "The real reason why Giorgio still hates Riqui Puig," wrote the account 'SicanEricDesign' on Twitter.

Riqui Puig took it for granted and added a couple of emoticons: a yawning face and another, covering his eyes. Alongside the message, a video in which the player, when he was playing for Barcelona, scored a goal against Juventus in a pre-season friendly.

The match ended 3-0 to the 'Cules' and, at the moment when he scores, Chiellini can be seen just behind Riqui Puig.

Some applauded the LA Galaxy player's message, but others told him it was nothing to get excited about, as it was a simple pre-season game for 2021-22.
