Just days after 'France Football' revealed the candidates for this season's Ballon d'Or, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has had his say on who deserves to take the prestigious trophy home.

With time ticking away until the big announcement all eyes are of course fixed on Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

In the provisional list of 30 nominees, there were a number of surprises, such as the omission of Gareth Bale, but Real Madrid were still able to claim the bragging rights over arch-rivals Barcelona.

'Los Blancos' came out on top with seven nominees to Barca's two. However, despite 30 players being nominated, Ramos believes that only five players can realistically hope to win the award.

The Real Madrid captain's top five was as follows: team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo came out on top, with Lionel Messi occupying second spot, Luka Modric completed to podium, closely followed by Marcelo and finally Gianluigi Buffon in fifth.

Interestingly, neither Neymar, nor Kylian Mbappe were included in Ramos' list, despite the latter having become the youngest player in history to be nominated for the award.

though perhaps most impressively, Ramos resisted the urge to name himself.
