Hugo Mallo recalled the incident during Óscar García Junyent's time as coach of Celta Vigo.

The captain of the Celta Vigo, Hugo Mallo, denied having committed an act of indiscipline as his ex-coach Óscar García Junyent argued to withdraw the captaincy of the first team from him.

"Oscar made his decision, but he did not give me any explanation. He will have his reasons, but he did not explain them to me. He told me in front of all his colleagues but nothing else," said the right back, for whom the withdrawal of the captaincy was "a big and hard blow" because he did not expect it.

The player wanted to make it clear that he did not commit "any act of indiscipline" and pointed out that he is "one of the first" footballers to arrive at the training ground and "one of the last" to leave.

"Being a captain, I'll never leave a training session. I've been here almost 20 years, 12 almost in the first team. I didn't fool around before and I won't fool around now. I'm past that age," said Hugo Mallo, who thanked the fans for their support despite not knowing the reasons why Oscar took him out of the captaincy.

The defender thanked his teammates for the "affection" they gave him at that moment, as well as his "confidence" in returning the armband after the change of coach in Balaídos's bench.
