Chelsea have officially bid farewell to Gary Cahill. The defender played for 7 and a half years at Stamford Bridge and is regarded as a Chelsea legend.

Cahill's stint at Chelsea has come to an end after 290 matches and 25 goals. He spent almost eight seasons at Stamford Bridge, after he arrived from Bolton Wanderers in 2011-12.

The defender's professional career began at Burnley, from where he moved to Aston Villa. There he completed almost three seasons, and quickly became a fan favourite. After a brief stint with Sheffield United, he began his long stint with Wanderers, with whom he played for four seasons.

His most successful season in London was 2014-15, when he became a vital part of the defence with 49 games played. Contributing three goals and two assists to his team. Unfortunately for him, his last year with the blues was not a pleasant one.

In fact, in an interview with 'The Telegraph', the legend of the London club harshly criticised Sarri for the few minutes he gave him. He ended up playing eight matches, of which he only started on six occasions. In his farewell tweet, Chelsea described him as "a true legend of Chelsea".
