Milan could replace Gattuso with Sarri
Italian outlet 'Gazzetta dello Sport' has claimed that if AC Milan miss out on the Europa League spots in Serie A this season, coach Gennaro Gattuso could be fired, and replaced by Maurizio Sarri.
Despite Gattuso's injection of character and spirit into AC since his arrival, the Italian could lose his job at the end of the season. Everything rides on whether or not he can secure European football for the 'Rossoneri'.
'Gazzetta dello Sport' reports that the club are weighing up a new direction next season, which will begin with a new coach if Milan cannot make it into the top six.
Milan currently sit in sixth, which would give them Europa League football, however they are only one point ahead of Atalanta with two games to go, meaning any slip up could see them drop into seventh.
If they do get rid of Gattuso, it is reported that the club will aim to bring in Maurizio Sarri, who has been a great success at Napoli this season.
That being said, Sarri is a wanted man, and there have been strong rumours that he is the top target for Chelsea, who look set to get rid of Antonio Conte at the end of the season.
