Toni Freixa believes that Barcelona fans are overly worried about Leo Messi. This includes manager Ronald Koeman, who recognised in his most recent statements that the Argentina renewing his contract is the priority. The ex-candidate of the Barca presidency offered a different point of view on his Twitter profile.
"I see the Barca fans too worried about Messi. He is the best ever without a doubt, but he's 34-years-old. Our future is in the hands of Pedri, De Jong, Ansu, Eric Garcia and others that will come. Barca always goes above any player", he wrote. The content didn't take long to go viral between Barca fans.
From his way of looking at things there are two points of view. The first, which is shared by the group's manager, is that Joan Laporta must put as maximum priority the return of their Argentine star. For significance, quality, history, he simply has to continue at the Catalan club.
The second regards Barcelona's delicate economic situation, proposing that the focus should pass to other deals that would guarantee more stability in the future, without Messi being a priority. One of the club's recent movements supports this theory, as it has recently been officially confirmed that promising young talent Yusuf Demir has joined on loan from Rapid Wien, with an option to buy.
