Martina suffers potentially serious neck injury against Lyon

The former Southampton man landed awkwardly following an aerial challenge with Maxel Cornet.

Martina challenged for the ball before landing on his opponent and eventually crashing into a heap on the turf.

The incident led to a seven-and-a-half minute delay to the game as the Curaçao international received treatment.

The 28-year-old was eventually stretchered off in a neck brace with Muhamad Besic coming on in his place.

It is thought that the player may have lost consciousness in the fall but his condition is as of yet unconfirmed.
