Mariano Diaz made his long-awaited second debut for Real Madrid in Wednesday night's comfortable Champions League victory over Roma at the Santiago Bernabeu and the striker marked the occasion by curling home the goal of the game late on.

Goals from Isco and Gareth Bale already had 'Los Blancos' cruising to victory as they got their title defence offf to a perfect start, but the Dominican made sure to put the icing on the cake late on.

Receiving the ball from Marcelo in the left-hand channel, the former Lyon man got the measure of Kostas Manolas before jinking inside the experienced defender.

What came next was very impressive indeed as he curled a beautiful strike beyond the despairing dive of the impressive Robin Olsen and into the far corner.

Wearing the famed Real Madrid number seven shirt, the forward could scarcely have got his return to the Bernabeu off to a better start.
