After victory in Hoffenheim, City remained in Germany to prepare for their clash with Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola opted to conduct Manchester City training in Germany on Wednesday morning, following his side's victory against Hoffenheim the previous evening. City are preparing for their next Premier League game, a tricky away trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.

Ahead of their return to domestic action on Sunday, Pep Guardiola decided to keep his City stars in Germany for a post match training session on Wednesday.  City came from a goal behind to win 2-1 against Hoffenheim, thanks to a late strike from playmaker David Silva

However despite kick starting their European campaign, City must sharply switch their attention back to Premier League action, as they are in for another tough test on Sunday, a trip to Anfield to face title rivals Liverpool.

City boss Guardiola was all smiles as he took the training session in Bad Schonborn, a 10 miles outside Hoffenheim; the session included fitness drills, and a small-sided match as the players looked to recover from Tuesday night's exertions.

Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League table on 19 points, the same as this weekend's rivals Liverpool,  with the 'Blues' superior goal difference the only factor separating the two early season pace-setters.

City captain Vincent Kompany spoke to 'Sky Sports' ahead of the clash, saying: "'It's a big game - both teams are at the top of the table and playing well but it's too early in the season for it to be a defining match, but it certainly feels a lot more than just three points is at stake."

Sunday's fixture also marks the final opportunity for one of these sides to claim top spot outright before the start of the international break.
