DR Congo has shown an approach to the Manchester United player to represent the country in the Africa Cup. The England-born player has yet to make his senior debut for Southgate's side and could be called up by the African country to play.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been approached by DR Congo to play in next year's Africa Cup. The player was born in England but is of Congolese descent and has only made one appearance for the U-20s in 2015.

He then played for the England U-20 and U-21 teams but is yet to make his senior England debut. The Manchester United defender is yet to make a decision and would be rethinking the proposal.

If he accepts it, Erik ten Hag could find himself without the full-back for a spell at the start of 2024 as the tournament in Ivory Coast runs from 13 January to 11 February.

Wan-Bissaka was previously called up by Gareth Southgate to play in Euro 2020 qualifiers but due to back problems had to return to Manchester and did not complete his senior England debut.

The 25-year-old full-back is not the only potential absentee for the Old Trafford side as goalkeeper Andre Onana and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat are also two possible absentees heading to AFCON.
