Real Madrid announced the hiring of Takefusa Kubo, a talented 18-year-old attacking midfielder from FC Tokyo who trained for years at La Masia, where he was often referred to as the 'Japanese Messi'.

Takefusa Kubo has officially become a Real Madrid player. The young Japanese midfielder, who was a part of Barcelona's youth categories and recently made his debut with the Japanese national team, will reinforce Real Madrid Castilla next season.

"Takefusa Kubo (04/06/2001, Kanagawa, Japan) will reinforce Castilla next season. The Madrid youth category will have in its ranks one of the most promising young players in world football. An attacking midfielder of excellent technique, very skillful, with vision of the game, great dribbling and goals", reads the press release.

previously referred to as the 'Japanese Messi', Kubo arrived at La Masia at the age of ten, although he had to leave Barcelona four years ago because of a FIFA sanction. He moved to FC Tokyo, where he has evolved to become the second youngest player to make his debut for Japan.

In fact, Barcelona's intention was to count on Kubo once he turned 18, but his agent's demands made his return a difficult feat. According to what 'Mundo Deportivo' announced, his representatives asked for a place in the first team and a high paying salary in accordance.

Once that possibility was ruled out, in Japan they discovered that Real Madrid had kept an eye on him. The team has acted quickly, and they will take Kubo to their second team, but always with the sights set towards the first team.

"With 18 years recently turned, Kubo has already debuted with the Japan national team (debuted on June 9 of this year against El Salvador). The Asian player joins the club from FC Tokyo, Japanese First Division, where so far in 2019 has played 13 league matches (four goals) and three League Cup (scored a goal)."
