Arsenal's win over Doncaster Rovers recorded the lowest-ever attendance for a competitive first-team fixture at the Emirates Stadium, despite the prices of tickets being reduced.

The prospect of turning out to see Arsenal play League One side Doncaster Rovers was not very appealing for Gunners fans, with the lowest gate since their move from Highbury back in 2006.

A crowd of 44,064, including 5,500 travelling fans from South Yorkshire, witnessed Arsenal's narrow 1-0 win in the Carabao Cup third round tie, even though the Gunners had tried to boost sales by offering tickets priced cheaply at £10 for adults and £5 for children.

Sir Alex Ferguson was in the stands to watch his son Darren, manager of Doncaster, take on his former rival Arsene Wenger. 44,054 tickets had been officially sold, but large sections of empty seats suggested the true attendance was even lower.
