Valencia are looking for a sporting director. And Leonardo is looking for a club. The 'Che' team is one of the options for the Brazilian, who has also reportedly received interest from football in his country.
Shortly after the possibility of his return to Mestalla became known, it was himself who admitted to having held talks with Peter Lim, owner of the Spanish club. He did so in an interview with 'L'Equipe'.
"There is nothing concrete. We've spoken a bit, yes, but nothing more," he said on Friday. He also acknowledged, regarding his past, that "having played for a club is something positive" for a future meeting.
That is one of the favourable points for the Brazilian. Leonardo made a total of 84 appearances for the Spaniards from 1991 to 1993, scoring ten goals. But it is not his only advantage to make him a strong contender for the job.
The former PSG sporting director maintains a close relationship with Jorge Mendes, an important man in the 'Che' board and Lim's right-hand man in sporting matters, which earns him several reasons to end up in the Mestalla offices.
