Presnel Kimpembe will not be at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The PSG centre-back says he is not at 200%. Axel Disasi replaces him in the French national team.

Bad news for France ahead of the World Cup in Qatar. Didier Deschamps has finally had to do without Presnel Kimpembe, who has said goodbye to the event.

The Paris Saint-Germain centre-back has stepped aside because he "could not guarantee a 200% performance". For this reason, he did not want to "destabilise the group".In his place, the French Federation has called up Monaco's Axel Disasi, who, if he plays in the World Cup, will make his debut with the French senior national team.

"After various tests with the technical teams of PSG and also France, I took the decision not to play in the World Cup," Kimpembe said in the statement. "As many know, I am always ready to fight for the national team and to represent my country, it is a great pride to have the opportunity to play again in the most prestigious competition," he added.

Finally, the centre-back, who played last Sunday, gave his reasons for not being at Qatar 2022. "Unfortunately, my health comes first and the latest tests have shown that I won't be able to guarantee a 200% performance, and I don't want to destabilise the group. I wish all my teammates the best of competitions, I trust you and I will always be your first supporter," he said.
