Matthijs de Ligt still can't seem to find the best version of himself. The Italian press is waiting expectantly to finally be able to see the Ajax player perform like he was expected, but he has not lived up to his prize, and this time his performance against Bologna was harshly criticised.

De Ligt isn't exactly lacking in opportunities. Sarri has continuously given him chances, but he is finding it difficult to adapt to his new team.

Against Bologna, De Ligt once again did not have his best match. And it could have been worse...

The defender committed a clear hand inside the area which, if seen by the referee, would have been penalised by a penalty. Luckily for De Ligt, the referee missed the action.

But the Italian press dawned this Sunday with criticism of De Ligt. Tuttosport' defined him as "imperfect". La Gazzetta dello Sport' opts for "erratic".

Everyone trusts De Ligt. He has already shown what he is capable of at Ajax. Italy are confident that the great footballer who shone in the Dutch team will do the same in the 'Bianconera' squad eventually, but meanwhile, he will have to endure the criticism.
