Hannover 96 are holding a charity fundraiser next month for the Robert Enke Foundation in memory of their Germany goalkeeper who committed suicide in 2009.

The Bundesliga outfit will host fifth division amateurs FC Germania Egestorf/Langreder on September 2 with all proceeds going to the Enke Foundation which helps children with heart disease and adults suffering from depression.

Some 25,000 euros ($28,306) was raised for the foundation last year when Hannover played a similar friendly.

Enke, the father of a baby daughter, was Germany and Hannover's first-choice goalkeeper when he threw himself under a commuter train in November 2009.

His widow Teresa chairs the foundation.
